HOW THIS ALL STARTED?

It was a dream

Sanjeet, Javi, and Alberto's journey began in the Netherlands, where they bonded over a shared lifestyle of positivity and good vibes, or as they call it in Spanish, "Buenro." Their travels led them to Jaipur, India, where they were inspired by the vibrant fabrics and patterns they encountered. Driven by a desire to share this feeling, they founded our company to create shirts that embody the essence of Buenro. This family project respects Indian traditions and aims to bring ancient artistry to new frontiers, ensuring everyone can feel the Buenro in their everyday lives.

PRINTING PROCESS…

STEP 1

SOAKING OVERNIGHT

First, the fabric is soaked for 1-2 days. It helps to remove the stains, oil, dust, and starch which
was a part in attires.

STEP 2

HARDA DYEING

Harda is a natural ingredient which is extracted from Myrobalan fruit and has been used in the
Ayurvedic medicines for its digestive healing properties. It gives a yellowish cream to the fabric
and also tannic acid of harda gives black colour with ferrous. This is called ‘Peela Karana’(
Tannin).

STEP 3

DRY AFTER DYE

After Harda dyeing, the fabric needs to lay flat and dry in the sunlight . The fabric will have a
yellowish tint after this stage, which will later disappear once washed.

STEP 4

BLOCK COLOURS

Main colours used in Bagru are black, red and maroon. All these colours are extracted from natural sources like,

  • Black from the worn out iron horse or camel soaked in water with Sugar Cane.
  • Red is derived from Gum paste and phitakiree i.e alum.
  • Maroon is the combination of red and black.
